COURSE # 1 SYLLABUS-EMBODIED AWARENESS ONLINE: AN INTRODUCTION TO SPIRITUALLY DIRECTED THERAPY
This is the first of ten on-line modules in the Canadian Institute for Transpersonal and Integrative Sciences(CITIS) Certification Program. It is designed to train you to 1) identify and apply contemporary, ancient and indigenous integrative Self-care practices 2) to assist those experiencing stress and strife, and or 3) assist with recovery from past trauma. The practices and theories are identified as ‘Embodied Awareness’. This course is relevant to direct delivery of services for all those interested in helping themselves and others to extend healing during times of crisis, trauma, and or accelerated change during our current transition into a global society, including: clinical counselors, marriage and family therapy, educational psychology, clinical social work, body-oriented therapists, yoga therapists, pastoral counselors and clergy, mindfulness educators, teachers, social-change enthusiasts.

Objective 1:
Describe 5 stages of recovery from Mass trauma and analyze how they corresponds to the five stages of growth in ancient and indigenous cross-cultural rites of passage
Objective 2: Compare ancient and indigenous rites of passage-ceremonies of initiation ‘trauma induced spiritual awakening’ to Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG) the, to stages of recovery from mass disaster trauma and to Hedva’s Spiritually Directed Therapy protocol for recovery

COURSE # 2 SYLLABUS- EGO DEATH AND THE HUMAN STRESS RESPONSE [3 CE credits]
Description: This is the second of ten on-line modules in the Canadian Institute for Transpersonal and Integrative Sciences(CITIS) Certification Program. Examine parasympathetic- autonomic nervous systems ( poly-vagal theory and the triune autonomic nervous system) responses to threat and how they each regulate the human stress responses. Discuss the evolutionary strategies to create safety ranging from fight-flight-freeze-faint; to tendand-befriend / tend and defend; to the social strategies for creating safety. Identify and define applications for contemporary, ancient and indigenous integrative Self-care practices to support recovery from unexpected, sudden change, stress, traumatic shock, grief and loss.

Compare an existential ‘ego death’ and the stages of loss to the instinctive mammalian faint-fight-flight-freeze and tend-and-befriend / tend and defend survival-stress-responses

Discuss a case study depicting different strategies for creating safety

COURSE # 3 SYLLABUS – YOUR TRANSCENDENT HEART-BRAIN AND ENERGY BODY [3 CE credits]
Description: This is the third of ten on-line modules in the Canadian Institute for Transpersonal and Integrative Sciences(CITIS) Certification Program. It is designed to train you to identify and apply contemporary, ancient and indigenous integrative Self-care practices to assist those experiencing stress and strife, or recovery from past trauma. The practices and theories are identified as ‘Embodied Awareness’. Course 3 reviews research on neruro-cardiology: the heart’s electro-chemical signals (EKG) and electromagnitic energy fields impact on the brain and body to reduce stress. Compare and contrast Western and Eastern energy systems including chakras, pranic healing, energy work and breathing practices to contemporary scientific research.

List attributes associated with yogic sciences seven ‘chakra’ plexi subtle spiritual energy fields and discuss the impact of crisis on the flow of energy through seven chakra’s neuroendocrinological plexi described in yoga

Compare yogic pranic healing; energy work; and breath work echniques used to address developmental ‘wounded child’ crises, existential ‘ego-death’ dilemmas in adulthood, spiritual crisis and awakening
COURSE: #4 SYLLABUS– INNER RESOURCES FOR SELF RENEWAL [3 CE credits]
Description: This is the fourth of ten on-line modules in the Canadian Institute for Transpersonal and Integrative Sciences(CITIS) Certification Program. Discuss Canadian cardiologist’s Dr John Andrew Armour’s findings on neuro-cardiology: the heart’s electro-chemical signals (EKG) and electromagnetic energy fields (em) and neurochemistry defining the heart as a ‘thinking organ’ independent of the cranial brain (1992), along with California’s Heartmath Institute’s research (2000) heart’s em fields to both regulate and entrain the cranial brain waves and body’s metabolism to synchronize with the heart’s ECGs waves to regulate mood, and increase empathy, trust, intuition, creativity and learning. Compare and contrast Western and Eastern psycho-physical spiritual energy systems. Outline Asian Hindu chakra system, pranic healing practices, energy work and breathing practices for stress reduction and emotional regulation. The practices and theories are identified as ‘Embodied Awareness’. Course four . Define and review Jungian archetypes, symbolic process, and indigenous shamanic practices as therapeutic modalities that support of personal healing and community renewal.

COURSE: #5 SYLLABUS – KNOW YOUR TRIGGERS [4 CE credits]
Description: This is the fifth of ten on-line modules in the Canadian Institute for Transpersonal and Integrative Sciences(CITIS) Certification Program. Course five analyze the tension between a basic human needs to belong and brain stem instinctive teritoriality. Note how the pain of feeling ‘different’ becomes patterns of oppression – on a personal level expressed as “me versus you/power-struggles’; and on a collective level “us versus them/tend and defend”, which define societal patterns of oppression. Define Dr. Pamela Haye’s A-D-D-R -E-S-S- I-N-G diversity model (2016). Explore the nature of implicit bias, bigotry, prejudice and privalege between social groups; and patterns of lateral violence, within ones own social group, and the impact of energetic patterns of oppression on a person’s psychosocial development. A case study demonstrates how to use embodied awareness inner-work to heal from interpersonal patterns of oppression rooted in inter-generational trauma.

Discuss the energy dynamics of basic human needs, the psychodynamics of interpersonal relationships power-struggles, ‘ego-death’ existential crisis and spiritual crisis as catalysts for PTG and spiritual integration

COURSE: #6 SYLLABUS – RECOGNIZE SPIRITUAL BY-PASS AND COME TO KNOW YOUR SHADOW [3 CE credits]
Description: This is the sixth of ten on-line modules in the Canadian Institute for Transpersonal and Integrative Sciences(CITIS) Certification Program. It is designed to train you to identify and apply contemporary, ancient and indigenous integrative Self-care practices to assist those experiencing stress and strife, or recovery from past trauma. Course six compares, contrasts and shows the reader how to distinguish between intuitive feelings, emotional feelings, thoughts, value-judgments and psychological projections. Define spiritual by-pass, and the nature of interpersonal and group dynamics within the context of personal shadow, tribal, family or collective shadow.

COURSE: #7 SYLLABUS – THE 13 GUARDIANS: DWELLERS ON THE THRESHOLD OF AWAKENING [3 CE credits]
Description: This is the seventh of ten on-line modules in the Canadian Institute for Transpersonal and Integrative Sciences(CITIS) Certification Program. It is designed to train you to identify and apply contemporary, ancient and indigenous integrative Self-care practices to assist those experiencing stress and strife, or recovery from past trauma. Course seven introduces and defines the concept known as the ‘Guardian Archetype’. The course clarifies and identifies specific traits associate with barriers to spiritual growth and the role of psychological blocks to spiritual progress. One will gain specific techniques that develop and enhance a capacity for insight and awareness. Learn specific cognitive tools to shift false beliefs and dysfunctional attitudes. Define how one becomes ‘a conduit for self-healing’.

COURSE: #8 SYLLABUS – THE 12 SENSES OF EMBODIED AWARENESS [5 CE credits]
Description: This is the eighth of ten on-line modules in the Canadian Institute for Transpersonal and Integrative Sciences(CITIS) Certification Program. It is designed to train you to identify and apply contemporary, ancient and indigenous integrative Self-care practices to assist those experiencing stress and strife, or recovery from past trauma (PTSD). This course discusses and defines each of the 12 senses of embodied awareness; and includes ancecdotal stories as well as case studies to help the reader gain in-depth understanding of the ancient Egyptian model of 12 senses. The course also reviews methods to expand awareness of the 7 subtle senses.Give examples of proprioceptive felt-sense (clairsentience), transmission of emotion (telepathy), transmission of ideas (intention), clear seeing (clairvoyance), spiritual discernment, intuition and spiritual realization.

Description: This is the ninth of ten on-line modules in the Canadian Institute for Transpersonal and Integrative Sciences(CITIS) Certification Program. It is designed to train you to identify and apply contemporary, ancient and indigenous integrative Self-care practices to assist those experiencing stress and strife, or recovery from past trauma (PTSD). Course 9 defines and applies the T-R-U-S-T inner work contemplative meditation for embodied awareness. One gains specific guidelines and therapeutic tools to elicit inner-directed Self-care practices, Course 9 focuses on practical experience with step-by-step exercises to engage the 12 senses of embodied awareness. By the end of this course one will be able to Identify somatic, emotional and cognitive signals associated with reaching a state of Embodied Awareness.

COURSE: #10 SYLLABUS – SELF-ECOLOGY AND SELF-CARE [3 CE credits]
Description: This is the tenth of ten on-line modules in the Canadian Institute for Transpersonal and Integrative Sciences (CITIS) Certification Program. It is designed to train you to identify and apply contemporary, ancient and indigenous integrative Self-care practices to assist those experiencing stress and strife, or recovery from past trauma (PTSD). Course ten defines Self-ecology. By the end of this course, one is able to define and Identify specific guidelines to create strategies for balancing body-heart-mind-and -spirit. Case studies and examples of individuals who have build Inner-Directed Self-Care plans are reviewed. Examples of a grass-roots community model for health and wellness is outlined and includes step-by-step instruction on how to build community renewal after and others to build personalized inner-directed Self-care plans using the Spiritually Directed Protocol®.

COURSE: #11 SYLLABUS – CERTIFICATION PROGRAM: INTRODUCTION TO SPIRITUALLY DIRECTED THERAPY: COURSES 1 – 10 [33 CE credits] includes all 10 courses.
By completing all 10 courses you will be able to explain and describe the interaction between our outer physical world and inner subtle intra-psychic realities. Special attention is given to using inner spiritual healing resources, symbolic process and embodied awareness to transform post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) into post-traumatic growth (PTG). A blend of best-practices in psychology together with cross-cultural spiritual healing traditions are reviewed, ranging from Drs Tedeschi and Calhoun from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte symptoms of post traumatic growth; and explore Hedva’s evidence based Spiritually Directed Protocol® for recovery from trauma to ancient Hindu and other Indigenous traditions provide specific tools and techniques that help to convert traumatic injury into personal growth and learning.
Discussion of the human stress response, including defining the relationship of the human brain, neuro-plasticity of the triune brain, combined with neurocardiology of the heart and other significant neural plexi supply sensory and perceptual signals are defined. Step-by-step experiential practices the T-R-U-S-T contemplative mediation practice and Self-directed inner-work practices are included in the therapeutic tools and techniques reviewed in courses 6-10. You will be introduced to important concepts, theories and specific exercises that show you how to move beyond traditional mantra and mindfulness meditation or exclusively body-oriented somatic psychotherapies into a full embodied awareness to support emotional healing and community wellness.

Certifications: Level 1 Embodied Awareness On-Line training contains 10 on-line courses. Each course consists of three Sections and each Section has a multiple-choice quiz at the end of the lesson. Each quiz is designed to confirm your overall review of the material. You may take the course for credit or noncredit. To gain full credit an exam a score of 75% is required to pass Level 1 Certification and progress to Level 2 Embodied Awareness Group Training. Level 1 is a prerequisite to level 2 training. Level 2 is by invitation only and includes face-to-face experiential training and supervised practicum.
